Remember to hit reload every day or else the new card may not load!
Not all of the old Card of the Day files are working right now. All of the old files should be running within one month. About 70-85% are working now. Sorry for the delays getting new cards done too. Things are getting back to normal rather well.
In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new
Magic: The Gathering card every single day.
The Card of the Day is...
Gangrenous Zombies
Ice Age Common
1BB Summon Zombies
2/2
"T: Sacrifice Gangrenous Zombies to have it deal 1 damage to each creature and player. If you control any snow-covered swamps, Gangrenous Zombies instead deals 2 damage to each creature and player."
A brief rundown of the card:
A walking Pestilence is often how I refer to Gangrenous Zombies. Not too bad of deal just for a 2/2 zombie at 1BB, our rotten friends the Gangrenous Zombies can actually be quite a bargain if used correctly. Gangrenous Zombies can be quite a handy addition to any degenerate deck, where you try to knock both yours and your opponent's life down to nothing in a few turns (hopefully your opponent a little quicker). That ability to deal 2 damage to everything and everyone is quite usefull too--I've seen a pair of these rancid zombies take out several Serra Angels and Sergir Vampires in one fell swoop. There are many cards that work in perfect harmony with Gangrenous Zombies. Here are some I use often:
- Circle of Protection: Black/Prismatic Circle
Just like Pestilence, Gangrenous Zombies are great for cheaply dealing some damage to your opponent. Use any damage prevention technique you wish to brush aside the 1-2 damage the zombies would deal to you.
- Death Speakers/White Knight/Duskrider Falcon...
All protection from black creatures work very well with Gangrenous Zombies. When you blow up the zombies, none of their gangrene-gunk will hit these fine creatures...hopefully leaving only your creatures left in play.
- Arcum's Weathervane
Got all of your snow-covered swamps in your Viscerid Drone deck? Not a problem when Arcum's Weathervane is nearby. You can turn a basic land into snow-covered once a turn with the weathervane. You can turn non-basic lands into snow-covered if need be, but it takes several more cards and is kinda a pain in the butt, but it can be done.
- Zombie Master
Lets see...a 2/2 regenerating swampwalker with a one-shot Pestilence built in for 3 mana?! That's what you'll get if you play Gangrenouse Zombies while the king of zombies is out and about.
