Winter's Chill

"Cast only during combat before defense is chosen. At end of combat, destroy X target attacking creatures; X cannot be greater than the number of snow-covered lands you control. For each attacking creature, its controller may pay 1 or 2 to prevent it from being destroyed in this way. If that player pays 1, the creature neither deals nor receives damage in combat. If that player pays 2, the creature deals and receives damage in combat as normal."
A brief rundown of the card:
Yes, Winter's Chill does have more legal red-tape than most tax reform laws, yet it does contain the words "destroy X target attacking creatures". That's nasty--especially for blue. If there were only ways to make sure our opponent attacks us while tapped out:
- Mana Short
This handy spell will tap out your opponent long before thay have a chance to attack--leaving them defenseless against Winter's Chill. Since they'll be all tapped out, all of their attackers will die if you have enough mana.
- Power Sink
Just counter anything your opponent casts. It won't matter even if the spell you try to counter resolves, as long as you run your opponent out of available mana.
- Siren's Call/Maddening Imp...
If your opponent isn't attacking you for fear of your mighty Winter's Chills, force them to attack!
