In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new Magic: The Gathering card every single day.

The Card of the Day is...

Tor Giant

Ice Age Common
3R Summon Giant

3/3

The Tor Giant and it's basic set look-alike Hill Giant are the mainstays of many a newbie's red deck. Tor Giant is actually a good deal for all the more it costs, yet many players tend to go for fancier cards once they've acquired a semi-decent collection. I feel Tor Giant should not be overlooked in creating a red/somthing-er-other deck. If you're going for an all red deck, there are better choices for 4 mana for sure--Sawtooth Ogre is a fine example. But in a multicolor deck, a Tor Giant or two for versatility isn't a bad idea. There are those rare examples that a Tor Giant can be more pratical than a Wildfire Emmisary even (that is a slight stretch.) Before I get into some generic combos that will work with any old medium sized red creatures, I must say that Tor Giant and Hill Giant are one of my favorite sealed deck cards ever. I just recently took second place in a (gulp) Portal sealed deck tourny due to the INVALUABLE help of two Hill Giants.:
