Thank you Peppermint Pig for your graphic contributions (background, title, and image map).

I decided to start noting if a card was in Portal, but I don't intend to start listing Portal only cards.

In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new Magic: The Gathering card every single day.

The Card of the Day is...

Treasure Hunter

Exodus Uncommon

2W Summon Townsfolk

2/2
"When Treasure Hunter comes into play, you may return target artifact card from your graveyard to your hand."

I always like seeing new twists on old effects in new sets. There are quite a few ways to dig up artifacts, either as a one-time shot or possibly many over a period of time. Most of the later sort cost much money nowadays, so let's look at a few of the one-shots. Argivian Find is cheaper and an instant and it can retrieve enchantments too, yet you'll (almost) never have an opportunity to deal some damage with an Argivian Find. Our friend the Treasure Hunter will have it's days it'll be able to deal significant damage with a shovel/pick axe/metal detector. Rootwater Diver is a good choice to fill a similar slot in a blue deck, yet does function a little different. Reconstruction and Argivian Restoration both can do the work that needs done (and then some with the restoration), but none have much long term use at all. If you find you could really stand to use a key artifact just a few more times to ensure victory, yet could also really need some mediocre creature support, Treasure Hunter is the chosen one. There are many simple things to pull off with any old white creature, so let's think for just a little bit of all the artifacts that often need "dug up". I wonder if Treasure Hunter cleans the junk that is dug up for you or not? Wouldn't it suck trying to use a Wand of Denial all covered in dirt? Yuck. Anyways:
